What are the less common childhood illnesses?

Some childhood illnesses have almost disappeared due to routine immunisation:

  • Poliomyelitis (polio)
  • Whooping cough
  • Diphtheria

Other infections are more common in adolescents and young adults:

  • Infectious mononucleosis (Glandular fever)
  • Rubella (German measles)
