What are the complications of meningitis?

About 25% of children with bacterial meningitis will die and about 25% of the survivors will have permanent brain damage such as:

  • Cerebral palsy
  • Intellectual impairment
  • Nerve deafness
  • Hydrocephalus
  • Epilepsy
